That's right—absolutely free with no credit card necessary! While there are premium features you might be tempted by (hello, appointment booking tool!), today we're sticking with just a free account.

Once registered, you’ll land on a start page where your mission is to hit “Create New Site.” Simple, right? From there, you’ll answer a few quick questions so the Wix Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI) can tailor your design journey.

Designing Your Online Presence

Online Store or Personal Project?

First, what kind of site are you creating? Maybe it’s an online store where you're dreaming of selling products, or perhaps you’re creating online courses. For this journey, I’m opting for an “online store” setup. If you're unsure what you need, don't stress. We can start simple and refine later.

Features and Functions

Next, you decide what features to sprinkle into your site. Wix makes suggestions to connect the dots for you, so no crazy custom work is required. Chat rooms? Forums? These sound cool, but I’m keeping it minimal right now. If necessary, features like an Instagram feed or blogging can be added.

The Design Path: AI or DIY?

Here's where it gets fun! With Wix, choose between letting their ADI do the heavy lifting or diving into the creation hands-on with the editor. If you need plug-and-play simplicity, give ADI a shot. But if you’re up for a creative challenge, starting with a template and adding your own twists is rewarding—and totally doable!

Wander through a wonderland of templates—you’ll find mesmerizing designs organized by category. For my project, I’m chasing a clean, minimal look. Upon selecting a template, customization begins. Colors, fonts, photos—you have free reign. Remember, creativity knows no bounds.

On the left sidebar, meet your new best friend—the Add button. Herein lies the power to enrich your site with elements like text, images, galleries, and interactive features. Drag and drop things right into place. From YouTube embeds to social media buttons, the world is your digital oyster.

Menus & Pages are navigable treasures in your site’s structure, leading visitors seamlessly. For ecommerce dreams, Wix Stores can embed a store with slick retail functionality. Running courses or memberships? Wix has you covered with specialized apps—a great number of them free.

Media Mastery

In the media section, dive into a vibrant library of free images. Need an eye-catching laptop shot? Simply type, browse, and drop. No money, no hassle.

Remember, every element is tweakable—from your SEO to page transitions. Just let your imagination run wild, and your site will reflect that spirit.

Time to Hit Publish!

Now that your masterpiece is set, preview it. Ensure that everything appears perfectly polished on desktop and mobile. On mobile, especially, click around to check usability—it’s where most users access content.
