What will you do?

Brightly Software Canada, a Siemens division, is seeking an UX Intern to work closely with our UX and product management teams on our next-generation Energy and Sustainability Solution for Commercial Buildings.

In this role, you will share your time between the UX and product management teams (60-40 split).

You will work closely with the product management and UX design teams to define wireframes and clickable prototypes that will allow the product managers to evaluate the new solutions with customers. Once a proposed user interface is approved, you will be working to translate the user's workflow into user stories.

You will also collaborate with the software development team to ensure your concepts are technically viable. You will be involved in the complete development life cycle, seeing your design evolve from technical specifications into a finished product.

What will you need to succeed?

  • You must be actively pursuing a degree in UX design.
  • Existing experience as a collaborative product designer, with a portfolio showcasing design projects is a great asset
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD and Sketch.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design processes and methodologies.
  • Experience (or an interest in) working with product development, engineering teams, and business stakeholders, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Some experience (or eagerness to learn) leading and facilitating interactive design sessions with product and engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with designing for mobile devices.
  • Exposure to UX research tools such as Optimal Workshop, User Interviews, User Testing, SPSS, etc.

As a Product Design intern at Brightly Software, you will own real impactful projects and take them from ideation to implementation. You will work collaboratively with your mentor, the rest of the design team, as well as other functions such as product management, engineering, services and sales.

By the end of this internship, you will acquire a broad set of design and product ownership skills and an understanding of how products are developed in large Fortune 100 organizations. You will have the opportunity to deliver meaningful contributions to organizations' efforts to reduce their building's carbon footprints, as well as the success of Brightly as a solution provider.
